The Big and Bright

Walter | Newborn

I don’t think we could’ve picked a more hectic day than this one for baby Walter’s newborn session. My longtime friend Mattie - who was my potluck roommate freshman year at A&M and then we ended up becoming BFFs and living together the rest of college - flew me up to Amarillo for a quick 24-hour trip to take her second baby boy’s newborn photos. When she booked the flights, she thought they’d be moved into the house they’ve been renovating in plenty of time … well, we all know how fixer uppers go … moving day ended up being the very day we took these photos. It actually worked out so well, though, because we had a clean, bright, blank slate to work with!

Walter is named for Walter Turnbull, a distant cousin of Mattie’s and the youngest ever popular-elected Choctaw chief, and also for his great-great-great granddad Walter Davis. Mattie has picked really meaningful family names for both of her boys and it fits them so well! I think my favorite photo from this session is the last one - a new family of four on the front porch of their new home. Be still my heart!

Aren’t they such a precious family? Nothing like bringing home a new baby to the place where he’ll always call home. This post has tips on making your home work well for newborn photos - the new Been house worked beautifully! Hope you’re loving life as a family of four, friends!
